Casper

Say hello to our beautiful teenager Casper! Casper is a young Golden Retriever who came into Battersea displaying behaviours typical of an adolescent dog. He was recently rehomed but returned after a couple of days due to challenges with overstimulation and resource guarding, highlighting the importance for Casper to be rehomed to new owners that can provide him with ongoing guidance and consistency as he matures. Caspar's will need ongoing training which should focus on reliable drop cues, appropriate exchanges, settle cues, and confidence building. Care must be taken to ensure exchanges are managed thoughtfully so unwanted behaviours are not accidentally reinforced. His new home will also need to be Casper-proofed, with items kept out of reach or securely stored to prevent him from accessing them, as he can be cheeky and grab items if he is bored. Casper would be best suited to an adult-only home with committed owners, and the new home will need a private garden. He can be sound sensitive and will need access to green walking routes away from busy roads. He loves his walks and is keen to say hello to any human or dog he passes. Despite some challenges, Casper is a wonderful dog, he is a fun, loyal, goofy, and extremely affectionate boy with a super endearing nature that is ready to shine as he matures. He loves other dogs and has some great social skills but can be over the top in his play style. Although he is not ready to love with a dog at this stage, he will need some consistent walking/play buddies as he really benefits form interacting with other dogs and this really helps his confidence.
