It is believed he was deliberately abandoned by his previous owner, as he wasn’t microchipped and no one came forward. Thankfully, he was taken into a safe kennel foster space, sparing him from a tragic fate. Felix has clearly had some training in the past, as he knows basic commands like sit, lie down, and ‘finish’—a position where he sits by your left side. He is intelligent and eager to learn, offering great eye contact and responding well to positive reinforcement, especially treats. He is also fully house-trained and loves affection and fuss. Felix is playful and active, enjoying games of fetch and running around the garden. He gives off a high-pitched bark when playing and a deeper bark when alerting to something unusual. He’s curious and nosey, often standing on his back legs to get a better look at what’s going on around him. He walks best using a headcollar harness and a dual-control lead, as he can be strong on the lead but is improving with training. Felix could potentially live with a calm, well-mannered female dog, but he may react if approached aggressively by other dogs. Due to the lack of background information and his size and energy levels, Felix would be best suited to an adult-only home or one with children aged 12 and over. He is not cat tested, so his compatibility with cats is unknown. An experienced owner who has previously had large-breed dogs is recommended to help guide Felix into a balanced adult life.
