Brisbane

🐕 Cross-breedYoung1 yearMaleNational
Brisbane is a young, large crossbreed aged just over 1 year old with a gentle and affectionate nature. Brisbane is a loving and people-focused dog who forms strong bonds with his humans. He enjoys being close and will happily follow you from room to room, always wanting to be near his people. Brisbane is a double merle and has some sensory impairments, including limited vision in one eye and reduced hearing. Despite this, he navigates his environment well and lives a happy, full life. In the home, Brisbane is calm, clean, and well behaved. He is non-destructive, settles well, and can be left alone without issue. He adapts well to everyday life and has shown he can cope in busier environments such as shops and cafés when supported correctly. Brisbane is dog friendly and has shown he can live alongside other dogs. He is also gentle with children, although due to his sensitivity, a home with older or dog-savvy children would be more suitable. Brisbane can become overwhelmed in new or busy situations. When this happens, he may become overexcited and struggle to regulate himself. This is not aggression, but a response to feeling unsure, and with calm handling and structure, he settles well. He walks nicely on the lead and responds well to guidance. With consistency and a calm approach, he continues to grow in confidence. Brisbane would suit a patient and understanding home that can provide structure, routine, and a calm environment. He needs owners who are willing to manage introductions carefully and allow him time to decompress and feel secure. Brisbane is a gentle, loyal dog who, in the right home, will form a deeply devoted bond and become a constant companion. Brisbane is crate trained, clean, and quiet in his crate overnight. He is not destructive at home but does need access to chew toys to keep himself entertained. He especially enjoys filled Kongs, raw bones, and a game of tug. While he can struggle to self-settle at times, he’s learning the concept of “quiet time” and developing an off switch. He enjoys accompanying his foster carer to work and confidently navigates busy public spaces such as shops and town centres. Brisbane is calm in loud environments and loves interacting with people. He can be left alone without issue, often just sleeping or chewing his toys. As a Double Merle, Brisbane comes with some genetic considerations. He can both see and hear, although his left eye, which has a starburst pupil, may have some visual limitations. Due to his lack of pigmentation, he is sensitive to the sun and can burn easily, so he requires sun protection and careful management.
